West Wimmera Shire Council is pleased to announce the awarding of contracts for the management and operation of three significant community assets.

After a thorough tender process, the contracts have been awarded for the Kaniva Memorial Swimming Pool, the Kaniva Poolside Caravan Park, and the Edenhope Swimming Centre.

The Edenhope Swimming Centre contract has been awarded to Nikiesha Pilgrim, who currently operates the Goroke Swimming Pool.

The Kaniva Poolside Caravan Park will be managed by Carters Dynamic Diggers – T & T Carter, and the Kaniva Memorial Swimming Pool contract has been awarded to Keith Pedler.

West Wimmera Shire Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout welcomed the appointments, emphasising the importance of these facilities to the community.

“We’re delighted to have secured operators for these vital assets,” he said.

“Council has worked hard to ensure the continuity of services at the pools and caravan park, and these appointments mark a significant step forward.”

While specific opening dates for the pools are yet to be confirmed, Council is working closely with the new contractors to ensure the facilities are operational as soon as possible for the 2024/25 season.

The delay in confirming the opening dates is due to the necessary arrangements and requirements that need to be finalised, including recruiting lifeguards and finalising all operational and safety measures before the pools can safely open to the public.

“Council understands the community’s strong interest in the future of these facilities,” Mr Bezuidenhout said.

“We appreciate the community’s patience as we finalise arrangements for the upcoming season.”

Council will provide further updates regarding the opening dates for the pools as details become available.
