Background Information
Kaniva Recreation Reserve is situated in Budjuik Street, Kaniva. Sporting facilities at the recreation include a football/cricket oval, two netball courts and two hockey pitches. The reserve is also used by the Kaniva A&P Society for the annual Kaniva Show, and it is the home of the Kaniva Community Hub. The four lighting poles at the Kaniva Recreation Reserve oval are currently not-compliant with AFL lighting standards.
Proposed Scope
Council received $250,000 from Sport and Recreation Victoria to upgrade the existing AFL lighting at the Kaniva Recreation Reserve oval. This will involve removal of the existing four poles and installation of four new poles. The new poles will be compliant with AFL lighting standards, replacing the previous non-compliant poles. No electrical upgrade will be required for this project due to previous works at the site.
The upgrade of the existing AFL lighting at the Kaniva Recreation Reserve oval promises a multitude of significant benefits for the community. This upgrade translates to extended hours of facility usage, allowing athletes, sports enthusiasts, and community members to make better use of this valuable space. By providing well-lit conditions, we are facilitating a safer and more inviting environment for everyone.
The enhanced lighting will also lead to increased participation in sports and recreational activities, benefiting the physical health and well-being of the community members. Sports teams will have more flexibility in scheduling training and events, fostering a greater sense of community engagement.
