West Wimmera Shire Council has leased the Kaniva Windmill Café and Visitor Information Centre to Kaniva businesswoman Jemma Hill.

Mrs Hill, along with her husband Jason, currently own Kaniva Floor and Décor. She plans to open the café and visitor information centre in early 2025.

The lease term is for three years, with the option for two additional one-year renewals.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said Council was thrilled to see the Kaniva Windmill Café and Visitor Information Centre in the hands of a local business owner.

“The Windmill Café and Visitor Information Centre is such an important business in Kaniva, for locals and tourists alike,” he said.

“We look forward to seeing Jemma’s plans come to life in 2025.”

The lease is part of the Council's ongoing commitment to supporting local businesses and promoting tourism in the West Wimmera region.

Further updates will be provided as the opening date approaches.
