West Wimmera Shire Council is seeking funding to deliver important upgrades at Goroke Recreation Reserve, aiming to bring the facility up to modern standards. The project is part of Council’s broader strategy to improve recreation reserves and sporting infrastructure across the shire.
Currently, the Goroke oval suffers from outdated infrastructure, including inadequate lighting and a volunteer-dependent irrigation system. These limitations impact player safety, event functionality, and the overall sustainability of the facility.
If funding is secured, the project will deliver:
Installation of AFL-standard lighting
A new modern irrigation system
Upgraded drainage to improve oval conditions
Improved fencing for enhanced safety and access
Design and planning works have already been undertaken by Council to ensure the project is shovel-ready.
State Government’s Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund $608,000 (pending)
Goroke Community $140,600
Council $11,400
