West Wimmera Shire community groups and organisations can apply for up to $5000 through Council’s Community Strengthening Grants Program.

Round one of the 2025/2026 grant program will open on Monday, August 11, and closes on Friday, September 13.

Funding is available for community programs, activities and services.

All funded activities or programs must respond to identified community needs and contribute to building a stronger community.

There are two categories of funding: community projects, and facility upgrades and equipment purchases.

Both categories have a maximum grant amount of $5000, on a $2 for $1 basis.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said the grant program was a fantastic opportunity for community groups to access much-needed funding.

“We know that community groups play a vital role in creating vibrant and connected communities, and we're pleased to be able to support their efforts through this grant program,” he said.

"Whether it's funding for a new community project or upgrading facilities, we hope these grants will help local community groups to achieve their goals and make a positive impact in the West Wimmera Shire.

“We encourage all eligible community groups to apply for these grants and take advantage of this opportunity to secure funding for their projects and initiatives."

Anyone wishing to apply for a grant can fill out an online application at www.westwimmera.vic.gov.au/Council/Grants-and-Funding/Community-Strengthening-Grants

Applicants are encouraged to thoroughly read the guidelines before applying.
