Have your say on domestic animal management

West Wimmera Shire Council is inviting community members to share their views as part of the review of the Domestic Animal Management Plan.
The plan sets out how Council will manage cats and dogs across the shire over the next four years.
It provides a framework for the planning, development, and evaluation of animal management services in the shire.
West Wimmera Shire Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said the plan played a vital role in supporting responsible pet ownership and community wellbeing.
“The Domestic Animal Management Plan provides us with a clear framework for managing domestic animals in a way that balances the needs of pet owners, the wider community, and the environment,” he said.
“The feedback we receive from the community is central to shaping this plan.
“We encourage all residents to take part in the survey and share their views on how domestic animal management can best support our community now and into the future.”
Community members are invited to complete an online survey to provide input into the draft plan.
Feedback will help Council identify key priorities and actions to ensure animal management services are effective, fair, and responsive to community needs.
The survey is open until Sunday 14 September.
Responses will be considered in the preparation of a draft Domestic Animal Management Plan, which will be released for further public comment before a final plan is adopted.
