West Wimmera Shire Council has released its draft Council Plan 2025–2029 and draft Long-Term Financial Plan 2025/26–2034/35 for community feedback. These documents outline Council’s strategic direction and financial planning framework for the years ahead, and your input is vital to ensure they reflect the needs and aspirations of our community.
What is the Council Plan?
The Council Plan is a key strategic document required under the Local Government Act 2020. It outlines the vision, objectives and strategic actions of Council over a four-year period, aligned to community needs and aspirations.
The Council Plan guides Council’s decision-making and sets out the services, projects and advocacy efforts it will focus on during the term.
Key elements of the Council Plan include:
- A community vision for the future
- Strategic objectives and priorities
- Measures of success
- Planned initiatives to deliver services and infrastructure
What is the Long-Term Financial Plan?
The Long-Term Financial Plan provides a 10-year financial framework to ensure Council can sustainably deliver services, infrastructure and facilities. It helps guide investment in essential assets such as roads, community facilities and capital works, while balancing financial challenges with the needs of residents.
Why your input matters
Community input will help finalise these plans and ensure they remain grounded in what is most important to people who live, work and invest in West Wimmera.
