West Wimmera Shire Council has released its draft Council Plan 2025-2029 and Long-Term Financial Plan and is inviting community feedback.
Council endorsed both documents at a meeting on Wednesday.
The Council Plan 2025-2029 is a key strategic document required under the Local Government Act 2020.
It sets the direction for the next four years and incorporates the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan and Disability Action Plan.
The plan was developed through extensive community engagement and outlines four central goals – building a healthy, inviting and connected community; supporting a diverse and growing economy; protecting a resilient and sustainable environment; and striving for operational excellence.
More than 250 residents and ratepayers contributed ideas through community drop-in sessions, a survey, and a deliberative engagement panel.
Their input has helped shape the draft plan, which reflects the aspirations and priorities of people across the shire.
The draft Long-Term Financial Plan provides the framework to ensure Council can sustainably deliver services, facilities, and infrastructure over the next decade.
It focuses on balancing community needs with limited resources, maintaining financial sustainability, and ensuring ongoing investment in essential assets such as roads and community facilities.
Mayor Tim Meyer said this was an important opportunity for residents to provide feedback on the documents, before Council adopts the final versions in October.
“These draft plans set the course for West Wimmera Shire’s future,” he said.
“They build on the community’s vision and ensure Council is focused on delivering the services, infrastructure and advocacy that matter most.
“We encourage everyone to review the documents and share their feedback.”
Both the draft Council Plan 2025-2029 and the draft Long-Term Financial Plan are available here.
Hard copies are also available at the Edenhope and Kaniva customer service centres for exhibition.
Feedback can be provided via the online form until Thursday 9 October 2025.
