West Wimmera Shire Council has prepared a draft Master Plan for the Kaniva Recreation Reserve. The reserve is home to football, cricket, netball, hockey, a skate park, showground buildings, the Kaniva Community Hub, Kaniva Sporting Complex and playgrounds.

The draft Master Plan outlines a vision for the next 10 years, identifying opportunities to improve facilities and support a wide range of sporting and active recreation activities.

This plan has been developed with input from the community, reserve user groups, and state sporting organisations. In shaping the draft, consideration has been given to community feedback, the multiple uses of the site, the cost of maintaining and operating facilities, and the facility standards required to secure external funding.

It is important to note that this Master Plan is a guide. Not all projects will happen straight away, or even within the 10 years of the plan. Council will not deliver every project on its own. Instead, the Master Plan provides a roadmap for Council, the community and reserve user groups to work together, and to make sure any future investment is well planned, inclusive and sustainable.
